ABSTRACT
This study set out to examine the levels of both professional risk competencies and risk-practice behaviors of medical imaging technicians that work at 4 private hospitals. 85 medical imaging technicians from those hospitals participated in the study. The questionnaires called ‘The Level of Competencies Required by Professional Risk Management’ (MRBD) and ‘The Degree of Professional Risk-taking Behaviors’ (MRDD) were created to determine the levels of the technicians’ occupational riskcompetency and related-practice behaviors. Data obtained in the investigation were analyzed through Mann-Whitney U and Spearman Correlation tests. The average age of the respondents is 25,95±5,67, and 55.3% of them are male. The findings revealed that the average of points in the MRBD and MRDD questionnaires was 21,16±2,72 and 9,59±2,38, respectively, and there was a positive correlation between technicians’ professional risk-competency and risk-taking behaviors at work (r=0,324; p=0,002). As the knowledge level of technicians about occupational risks increases, their protective behavior towards occupational risks increases positively.
