ABSTRACT

Nearly 20 years have passed since the radical changes and transformations that started with the Health Transformation Program in the Turkish health system in the early 2000s, and the system has tested new applications during this time. Again in this period, important changes have occurred that will affect the health systems in Turkey and the world. Due to the dynamic nature of the health system, health reforms come to the fore at certain times. This research has been tried to determine the new generation health reform areas needed in the Turkish health system within the framework of the views of academics working in the field of health management. With semi-structured interview forms, the participants were asked about the problems of the Turkish health system and which areas should be reformed to solve these problems. In this context, 50 academicians working at universities in Turkey were reached and the views of the participants were subjected to thematic analysis. 94% of the participants stated that the health system needs reform. Based on the problems raised, reform areas were gathered under certain themes and these themes were associated with the main headings. As a result, there is a need for health reform in the Turkish health system and these needs are gathered under the headings of management and organization, service delivery, economy and finance, human resources, and legislation.
