ABSTRACT

The fact that the level of quality and patient safety achieved in health care services does not increase at the same level as the resources allocated to these services occupies the agenda of policy makers in many developed and developing countries. It can be said that financial strategies have improved significantly in the last decade, especially among the strategies that have been implemented for improving patient safety. In this context, the concept of Nonpayment for Preventable Events developed within the scope of Value-based Purchasing and the Hospital-acquired Conditions model, which is the implementation of this concept, constitutes the subject of this study. That model, emerged in US and found field of application in transoceanic developed and developing countries because of successful results obtained, has an important potential in the context of Turkey
