ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to identify the factors that are important in the selection of hospitals, and role of having international accreditation certificate in hospital selection for domestic and foreign patients comparing. 4 hospitals are determined from the 32 hospitals with international accreditation certificate in Turkey, by using "Improbable Sampling Method" from "Sampling Method Easy". The sample size was determined by considering the weight of the Turkish and foreign patient number in the total number of patients accepted in the previous year. The results of the study show that the hospital quality is placed between top three factor in the hospital preference, however international accreditation sertification is not given equal importance and the importance given differs between Turkish and foreign patients. It is recommended to identify the reasons why patients attach less importance to having an accreditation certificate and to conduct larger studies with larger samples.
